Cartier has created a special rosary for Wes Anderson’s latest film, The Phoenician Scheme. Wes Anderson was fascinated by a necklace made by Cartier around 1880 and now part of the Cartier Collection, and imagined one of the characters in the film wearing it in a contemporary image. To embody this image, in 2024, the Maison’s High Jewelry Studio designed a unique rosary. A crucifix from the archives is reinterpreted in a larger size. The chain, set with rose-cut diamonds, reflects antique elements, fully expressing Wes Anderson’s beautiful worldview. Rooted in Cartier style, this creation features the Maison’s signature contrast of rubies and emeralds, a combination that has been explored for more than a century. The stylized circular motif set with square diamonds further reflects the Maison’s affinity for geometry and graphic patterns. The rosary will be worn by actor Mia Sleepleton. The Rosario will now join the Cartier Collection and travel the world to showcase the Maison’s creativity and savoir-faire in major exhibitions and cultural institutions. Another Cartier creation will also appear in the film. In the heart-warming proposal scene, the diamond ring is presented in the Maison’s signature red box.
