[Seiko Group Corporation] Seiko Group to use 100% renewable energy for all domestic locations
Seiko Group Corporation Press Release: June 12, 2025 Seiko Group will use 100% renewable energy for all domestic sites Seiko Group Corporation (Chairman, Group CEO, and Group CCO: Shinji Hattori, Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo) has completed the switch to 100% renewable energy (hereinafter referred to as “renewable energy”) for electricity used at all domestic locations of the entire Seiko Group in March 2025. The Seiko Group has set a goal of “net zero” by 2050, which is to reduce all greenhouse gas emissions related to its business to virtually zero. In line with the decarbonization transition plan (Scope 1, 2), the entire group is working on energy conservation, and is actively promoting measures such as installing solar panels, introducing on-site/off-site PPAs (※1), and switching to renewable energy power contracts. For some tenant locations, we have purchased non-fossil fuel certificates (※2) with tracking for the electricity used, which means that the electricity used is essentially sourced from renewable energy. As a result, we have now achieved a 100% renewable energy supply for the electricity used at all domestic locations. As a result, the entire annual electricity consumption (※3) of all domestic bases, approximately 81GWh, will be converted to renewable energy, which is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 34,000 tons per year. We will continue to accelerate the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society in line with our plan to use 100% renewable energy at all Group locations, including overseas, by fiscal 2040. ※1 Abbreviation for Power Purchase Agreement. On-site PPA is a contract type in which the PPA operator installs renewable energy generation equipment on the electricity consumer’s premises and directly supplies the electricity generated there. On the other hand, off-site PPA is a contract type in which renewable energy generating equipment is installed outside the electricity consumer’s premises and electricity is supplied through the power grid. *2 This is a certificate that certifies the value of electricity generated without using fossil fuels such as coal or oil, as it is derived from non-fossil energy sources, and includes information such as the type of energy source and the power plant. ※3 Calculated based on actual electricity usage in fiscal 2024 for all domestic Group locations. *This email was sent automatically, so please do not reply.
