Winner of the Pritzker Prize in 1992, he is one of the most awarded architects in history and is internationally recognized as one of the most prominent figures in contemporary architecture. After graduating from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Porto in 1955, he quickly attracted attention for his exceptional talent. Having taught at various universities in Europe, North America, and South America, his work has spread around the world and inspired generations of architects. He is particularly known for his Leça swimming pool in Portugal and the Faculty of Architecture building at the University of Porto, where he himself graduated.

The original hand shape is distinctive. This is a comment from Siza, who designed a watch from a freehand sketch for the first time. “The history of watch design is also the history of millions of new models and
modifications. I set out on this path with the goal of making these changes unobtrusive and making this watch look like a watch. New doesn’t necessarily have to be aggressive.” ■Rafael Moneo Image

Regarding this project, Moneo said, “When I was asked to design the clock, I had never designed anything like the clocks I had designed before, such as the clocks for the Grognano Town Hall. “I couldn’t help but recall designing the clock for Atocha station. The clock is related to daily activities, with the dividing line between morning and afternoon at 12 o’clock (noon), the peak of the day, rather than a series of moments like a digital clock. Getting used to thinking in meters, working in millimeters and tenths of millimeters, was a disciplined task, where the texture of the material was always felt on the wrist,” he said. ■Souto Moura

In 1927, the original brand “Cowney” was born in this area by the three brothers Albert, Henri and Mireille. Mireille, the youngest child, became the world’s first woman to lead a watch brand, and she has put her dream of bringing high-quality watches with original and elegant designs to the world. Albert and Henri boarded a passenger ship, crossing from port towns in the Mediterranean to port towns, delivering Cowney watches all over the world. Swiss items With its quality and original design, Cowney has established a solid position as a watch brand that is popular worldwide. At the time, many people were the first time to have a Cowney watch, and in the 1950s and 1970s, people all over the world were forced to wrap Cowney watches around their wrists. From 1927 until today, Cowney has manufactured automatic winding mechanisms in his hometown of Switzerland. Even now, nearly 100 years after its founding, we continue to strive every day to create watches of the future, continuing to follow the traditions and principles of watchmaking.
