Yonezawa-ori has a history of over 200 years, dating back to the time of Uesugi Takayama, the 9th lord of the Yonezawa domain. In addition, since Yonezawa City, Yamagata Prefecture was the birthplace of the chemical fiber industry, the foundation for working on textiles that made full use of compound fibers was formed early on. With the shift to Western clothing after the war, the company began manufacturing clothing using synthetic fibers based on the techniques it had cultivated over the years, and Yonezawa-ori became established as a production center for both clothing and kimono. Nowadays, the compositing of natural fibers and chemical fibers is progressing, and the area has gained recognition as a composite textile production area, including dyeing and
