Maximilian Davies sought inspiration from the world of dance for Ferragamo’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection in Milan, Italy. Focusing particularly on the wardrobe and accomplishments of Germany’s Tanztheater (dance theater), she draws inspiration from the elegant yet light atmosphere of everyday dress, free choreography, and unrestrained expression. Visual echoes of 1920s German Expressionist dance and its revival in the 1980s are projected as timeless harmonies through Davis’ unique perspective.

A straight-cut silk slip with drop-waist lace appliqués and a collage of shearling strips. Meanwhile, uniform details from this era are referenced in utilitarian leatherwear and tailoring. Dreamy prints appeared, along with surreally fur-stuffed handbags, and the off-stage wardrobe fluidly reconfigured familiar shapes in jersey knits.

It creates a sense of discomfort,” Davis says. This sense of discomfort is based on the same spirit that influenced the Tanztheater revival movement of the 1970s and 1980s. “It was a moment of new liberation. Their expression of love was unexpected and remains special decades later,” he says. A satin trench coat clings to the body with a belt, shiny leather contrasting with soft cashmere, flattened feathers, and poppy flowers extending from ribbon-like stems. Throughout the collection, the emotional dialogue between love and longing, freedom and control, romance and passion in German theater is expressed.

Flowers in organza, leather and satin are featured on almond-toe pumps and the straps of sandals that wrap around the calves. Inspired by founder Salvatore Ferragamo’s archives, the innovative seamless shoe is presented on a futuristic wedge sole.

As for accessories, organza flowers are featured throughout the evening bag. The icon bag “Hug” has a new animation with a belt wrapped around the entire body. Additionally, a winged pouch and a one-shoulder model with an autumn/winter feel have also been added.
