Watches typically consist of a case that houses a movement, but for centuries watchmakers have pursued flatter shapes for aesthetic elegance. But for this, structure and strength need to be addressed. To achieve this point Bvlgari has developed an advanced material combination. The new Octo Finissimo Ultra The Tourbillon uses microbead-frosted titanium for the bezel, middle case, and lugs, while the main plate is made of tungsten carbide. The two planar crowns that protrude slightly from the side of the case, the one on the left (at 8 o’clock) for winding the mainspring, and the one on the right (at 3 o’clock) for setting the time, are made of circular-grained stainless steel, as are the ratchets with their geometric decoration. For clear legibility, the hour dial features rhodium-plated hour and minute hands set on sandblasted brass coated with anthracite DLC. This point is important for the Octo Finissimo Ultra and Octo Finissimo Ultra, in which the hour and minute hands were set to separate regulators. This is one of the major differences from COSC. The microbead-frosted titanium bracelet further enhances the watch, and the ultra-thinness of just 1.5mm including the folding clasp adds to its beauty.
