“Children’s Smile Movement”, a world SDGs workshop that expands activities –Providing a place to experience craft art using leftover cloth– World Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kobe City, Representative Director and President Executive Officer: Nobuteru Suzuki) exhibited at an event held on March 16th (Sunday) by the Tokyo project “Children’s Smile Movement” in which it participates. A workshop was held by Nankoro Sensei, a member of the World SDGs Promotion Office, where children and their families could experience handcraft art using leftover fabric from their own sewing factory. World will continue to collaborate with this project of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, which aims to create a society where children are full of smiles, and provide a first-hand experience of the importance of the SDGs conveyed through fashion, with a focus on children, who will lead the next generation, as well as promoting the SDGs towards the realization of a sustainable society. ・Workshop content This is an upcycling workshop where children and their families can experience the handcraft art of taking handprints and pasting leftover fabric onto them. This event will provide an opportunity for participants to experience
manufacturing unique to a “fashion company” and learn about the SDGs in a fun and more familiar manner while touching on environmental issues. The mounts on which the handprints are taken are collected and reused from fabric sample mounts that were scheduled to be discarded. It was a memorable workshop as the children were able to learn about the stages of making clothes that they don’t usually have the opportunity to touch, and they were able to feel the child’s growth as they worked together while taking handprints.

The children were exposed to the differences in the various materials used for clothing, and had fun making their own products while being able to choose freely and happily.
