In conjunction with “Minsa Day” on May 4th, promotions will be held in both real and digital formats during the period. We will communicate the deep appeal of the Minsa obi through a variety of projects, including a photo collection of employees wearing it, the Minsa Obi Contest in Kyoto, and limited sales at our online store. [Project overview] ■ Photo collection by employees (Instagram linked project) Employees of Yamato Co., Ltd. took photos of coordinations wearing Minsa obi and updated them on the official Instagram (@yamato_kimonodreammakers]. Staff from all over the country from brands including Kimono Yamato will participate and propose styles for minsa obi that can be enjoyed in everyday life. ■ Minsa obi
competition in Kyoto Shinpukan Co-sponsored with Kimono Mori, a general incorporated foundation, 84 Minsa obi obi, each containing the thoughts of their creators, will be exhibited in one place. The winning works will be decided based on votes from visitors. These 84 pieces are carefully selected by the creators themselves. Online store ◎Sales are scheduled to start from 10:00 on Thursday, May 2nd. ◎If you would like to preview the product at the store, we will accept it after May 17th (Saturday) only if stock is available. [What is Minsa obi] Minsa obi is a traditional textile from the Yaeyama region of Okinawa Prefecture (Ishigaki Island, Taketomi Island, Iriomote Island), and refers to a narrow (sa) obi woven from cotton (min). The characteristic “five and four kasuri” motifs have been popular as obi belts to give to loved ones, embodying the idea that they will last forever until the end of the (5) world (4).
