This new museum in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District was designed by the RPBW (Renzo Piano Building Workshop) studio. The Whitney Bag is a tribute to Italian craftsmanship, a perfect blend of technology and aesthetics, structure and elegance, design and versatility. Initially released as a limited edition, it quickly became an essential item for women all over the world. Ten years later, Max Mara is celebrating a memorable anniversary by renewing its partnership with the Whitney Museum of American Art. To celebrate, the aluminum color first introduced in 2015 will be reissued in limited numbers, as well as new color and size variations. Starting in May, special window displays and promotions will also be rolled out at flagship stores in Rome, Paris, London, Vienna, Madrid, New York, Shanghai, Chengdu, Dubai, Seoul, Tokyo and Hong Kong. In Japan, this special window will start at Max Mara Omotesando store from May 7th. In this window display, the “Whitney Bag” goes beyond its previous image and takes on a new look. The production incorporates
metaphysical inspiration and elements of surrealism, creating a world that is surprising, fun, and captivating. The 10th anniversary model comes in 14 new colors. Available in a wide range of colors including soft pink, silver, gold, camel, ocean blue, risky green, deep brown, and black. There are six sizes available, and in addition to the previous model, a new five-rib design will be introduced. The limited edition model also features aluminum-colored leather reminiscent of the Whitney Museum’s metallic façade, a bright red nappa leather lining, and every Whitney bag is engraved with the words “Designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop.” The “Whitney Bag” commemorating this 10th anniversary will be available at limited Max Mara shops nationwide starting from May 7th at Max Mara Omotesando store, Max Mara Ginza 3-chome, and the official online shop. #MaxMara
