The concert featured the world premiere of Fazil Say’s piano concerto “Mother Earth” performed with the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra. Simone Meneses, artistic director and conductor of the program, said about the concert, “Music has a unique ability to connect us emotionally, but it also goes beyond that to reconnect us with something greater. This concert is not just a homage to nature, but an invitation to reflect, integrate and celebrate what makes us human: our ability to feel, to listen and to be gardeners of this wonderful garden that we have been given.” Inspired by the deep connection between music and nature, this concert celebrates the beauty and essence of the natural world through art. The program opened with a Piano Concerto by Fazil Say.

Artists are taking action against the climate crisis, which is a threat to humanity, life and the planet. Fazil Say is one of them. Commissioned by Cartier, he composed this piano concerto in 2024. Inspired by the four elements of nature (water, air, fire and earth), this concerto beautifully expresses their interconnectedness and reminds us of our common origin in nature. Fazil Say says: “This piece is a wake-up call to the dramatic changes in the world’s ecosystems.” In addition to the Mother Earth Concerto, the program also featured Debussy’s La Mer and Heitor Villa-Lobos’ Amazon Forest Suite II, both of which are related to the theme and issue.
