Takihyo Co., Ltd. Press release: November 15, 2024 Recycled cotton T-shirt born from the material circulation scheme “NO WASTE PROJECT” Selected as Sophia University’s official sustainable T-shirt. Design recruitment started within the university Takihyo Co., Ltd., a textile trading company founded in 1751 (Headquarters: Nishi-ku, Nagoya, Representative Director and President and Executive Officer: Kazuo Taki), has developed a recycled cotton material called “NO WASTE PROJECT,” which is a unique material recycling scheme developed by Takihyo Co., Ltd. T-shirts using “ROOPS” are available at Sophia University (Location: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, President: Teimichi) The design will be selected for the official sustainable T-shirts of Yoshiaki (Yoshiaki), and a call for designs will be held from November 5th to 30th from students and faculty members. As a leader in the manufacturing of apparel products from upstream to downstream, we are working to realize sustainability in fashion. As part of this effort, we have established a material recycling scheme in which we collect cutting waste and used clothing and turn it into yarn, fabric, and products. We are developing the NO WASTE PROJECT. This time, Sophia University’s desire to create an opportunity to pause and think about global issues such as
environmental problems as a personal matter is reflected in the concept of “NO WASTE PROJECT” of “not wasting anything.” We overlapped and ended up being hired. For this project, we will be soliciting designs from undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty at Sophia University, with the aim of getting them to think about it as their own work. Our company also participated in the design selection as a first-round judge, and the best-selected design will be used as T-shirts as official university goods, and will be sold at Patine Sports at Sophia University. Going forward, we will continue to aim to co-create value through various initiatives, including
industry-academia collaboration, in order to realize our corporate philosophy of becoming a “company with dreams” and a “society that is rich in spirit.” Call for designs for official Sophia University sustainable T-shirts:
