This workshop was planned with the hope that it would inspire people to upcycle their favorite, soiled clothes at home instead of throwing them away. By fiscal 2024, we had collected approximately 8.84 million items of clothing from approximately 1.7 million customers. The collected clothing is recycled into RPF (recycled plastic fuel) for use as alternative energy. It is also used to produce recycled yarn, which is used to make textile products and blankets and work gloves. With the cooperation of the Japanese Red Cross Society, the blankets are used to support disaster-stricken areas and developing countries both in Japan and overseas. The gloves are distributed for various purposes, including disaster relief, forest conservation, and educational activities.
