The fire struck Southern California, which was experiencing abnormally dry conditions, and has so far spread over more than 200 square kilometers in Altadena, Pasadena, and Palisades, causing extensive damage. More than 18,000 buildings were destroyed, and many people were injured and killed, making it the deadliest wildfire disaster in Los Angeles history.
