Featuring world-class actors like Norman Reedus and Léa Seydoux, their work pushes the boundaries of gaming storytelling and the playing experience. Hamilton collaborated with Kojima Productions, led by storytelling pioneer Kojima, to create the watch used in Death Stranding 2: ON THE BEACH, the sequel to the multi-title
award-winning, genre-defying masterpiece Death Stranding. Hamilton worked closely with renowned art director Yoji Shinkawa to incorporate the game’s techno-apocalyptic worldview into the watch design, creating a futuristic limited edition inspired by Bolton. Mr. Shinkawa is leading the art direction for this series, as he has done for many of Kojima’s works, and in his latest work, he translates Kojima’s image into an actual watch.

Titanium has a strong yet sleek look and is durable, reducing the case’s weight by 45% and making it less susceptible to damage from salt water. The watch is made up of seven sapphire crystals, arranged in the main front window and in two rows of three on each side, matching the lines of the case. This unique case shape, never seen before, allows for dynamic shading and light refraction that changes over time. The face features minimalist gray indicators, contrasted by the orange lacquered seconds hand and index at 12 o’clock. The looped hour and minute hands complement the sapphire crystal design and add lightness to the face. The black PVD titanium bracelet is both sophisticated and durable, highlighting its technical appeal.

This watch perfectly represents the story world of the apocalyptic game. Given Hamilton’s long historical background in filmmaking, the partnership with Kojima Productions was a natural progression given the studio’s cinematic and auteur approach to its work. Hamilton’s recent collaborations with storytellers on films such as Dune, Indiana Jones and Interstellar caught the studio’s attention and sealed the possibility of a watchmaking partnership.
