This work, which received enthusiastic support from readers during its serialization, was adapted into a stage play by the Takarazuka Revue and a TV anime, creating a social phenomenon in various fields and establishing a monumental status in the world of girls’ manga. Now, more than 50 years after the serialization began in 1972, a completely new animated movie is now being released to rave reviews.
