In Japan, approximately 2 million tons of clothing and old fabrics are thrown away every year. It is said that approximately 70% of this waste is incinerated or disposed of in landfills, and only 26% is recycled. How do you acceptthis reality? We at colorloop are tackling this challenge with “color.” Rather than “waste fiber = garbage,” upcycle it into “valuable materials that make use of color.” That is the basis of the Color Recycle System we have developed. Bringing design and pride to recycled materials. Until now, when it comes to recycling waste fibers, materials with muddy colors such as gray and brown have generally been used. However, we thought that by dividing materials by color, we could reborn them more freely and more beautifully. This is how products such as TEXLAM(R) board, recycled yarn Reprit(R), ReFIQ sheet, and WFRP molded products were born. These are completely new upcycled materials that can be designed with colors and other features.

They can become the main character.” In order to make this idea a reality, Colourloop collaborated with Nakano Co., Ltd., a textile recycling professional, and Abode Co., Ltd., a furniture and product design company, to plan and produce the bench. Each machine upcycles about 600 used T-shirts. With all five machines, 3,000 pieces of clothing were reborn. At the moment when people sit, talk, and take photos on the stage of the World Expo.
