Under the keyword “square clothing,” this collection dismantles the conventional concept of clothing that conforms to the body and pursues architectural structures and linear forms. We attempted to present a new expression and value of clothing. In addition, for visual expression, a visual shoot was conducted at “Mitaka Destiny Reversal Housing In Memory of Helen Keller” located in Mitaka City, Tokyo. By incorporating the architectural space itself as the background of the clothing, we visualized the structural affinity between the clothing and the space. Furthermore, in collaboration with Hitotabi Ishimoto, who works as a photographer, graphic designer, and art installation artist, we have created visual works that cross the realms of art and fashion. TheExhibition “Dr. MAAYA HOUSE EXHIBITION 2025” that brings together these expressions will be held onApril 10, 2025 (Thursday) atDr. Maaya Design Institute Atelier (Sugamo, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo). In this exhibition, in addition to all the collection works presented in Paris, you can also see visual works created in collaboration with Mr. Ishimoto.

Graduated from medical school in March 2000 and obtained a medical license. After completing a one-year surgical residency at a university hospital in Tokyo, he joined the Department of Neurosurgery. Obtained neurosurgery specialty in 2006. After many ups and downs, in 2009 I spent a year at a Japanese vocational school studying and creating a portfolio in preparation for studying abroad at an overseas art school, and in 2010 I went to London to study abroad. After returning to Japan in 2012, while working as a neurosurgeon, he also worked as an assistant to a stylist. We pursue “interestingness” and “colorfulness” with objects made using glue guns and textiles inspired by medical images. I am passionate about creating clothes that people of all body types can enjoy wearing. Official HP ​

This nine-unit housing complex has 14 bright colors painted on its interior and exterior, and each room has a completely different color combination, making it a landmark in Mitaka City, a western suburb of Tokyo, and is known as a “house that never dies in vivid colors” (Jakucho Setouchi). Currently, it is managed and operated by Shusaku Arakawa Madeline Gins Tokyo Office (Coordinator Co., Ltd.), partly as rental housing and partly as a place to disseminate educational and cultural programs. He works hard to create photographic expressions that liken his life to a journey with no destination. While working in the fields of people, landscapes, fashion, and music, he plans the art festival “PHOTOJAM” by utilizing the know-how he gained from his previous work in producing genre-less spaces and managing events.
