Chronoswiss has announced the new 2025 “Quarter Repeater Scream” and “Quarter Repeater Blue Note.” These are quarter repeater timepieces that combine the sonic beauty of timekeeping with state-of-the-art mechanical construction. As an independent watchmaker, Lucerne’s watchmakers have created bold creations based on sound and design that are deeply rooted in Chronoswiss’ history. A skeleton model of the “Quarter Repeater” housed in a titanium (grade 5) case reveals the complex mechanism behind the chime mechanism. Each press of the pusher at 10 o’clock activates the fascinating quarter repeater function, in which the hammer audibly announces the hour and quarter of an hour. At its heart is a ‘legacy movement’, rooted in the vision of Chronoswiss founder Gerd Rüdiger Lang. First introduced in the 1990s and produced exclusively for Chronoswiss, this ‘Legacy Caliber’ is equipped with a Dubois-Depraz module in the Enika-based caliber C.126, taken from the archives and meticulously restored and improved. When you press the button, the set percussion hammer releases sound like a rock concert. As the name suggests, you can not only watch the clock, but also enjoy the sounds. Every chime is a cry of innovation, freeing from the tradition of classic repeater watches. The Legacy movement itself is also part of the Gig (Session), featuring a Super-LumiNova block and hand-guilloché bridges. When the mechanism is activated, one of the bridges moves, increasing the dynamic energy of the dial. The Lucerne watchmaker calls the glowing ceramic block “Chickenhead”, paying homage to the iconic amplifier knobs found on rock concert stages.
