Breakthrough style To understand the background behind this watch, let’s take a quick look back at its history. The Diastar Original, introduced in 1962, was born right in the middle of the Space Age. Its extraordinary style shocked the world of watchmaking. But it wasn’t just visually impactful and impressive. The innovative “hard metal” material became the symbol of a new era, as it was extremely durable and
scratch-proof, overturning the traditional watch trend of more glass and less case. The Diastar Original became synonymous with

It combines the hardness of ceramic with the toughness and luster of a metal alloy, has improved scratch resistance, and is significantly lighter than hard metal. Additionally, the entire watch is covered in Rado’s high-tech materials, along with a faceted sapphire crystal.
